Remembering Atal Bihari Vajpayee: Leaders Unite on Good Governance Day

On the 98th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Droupadi Murmu, Home Minister Amit Shah, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, and others visited Vajpayee’s memorial, Sadaiv Atal, to pay floral tributes. This day is also observed as ‘Good Governance Day’ in honor of Vajpayee. Vajpayee served as the Prime Minister of India and his contributions to the nation are considered indelible. His leadership and vision continue to motivate millions of people.

Home Minister Amit Shah recalled Vajpayee’s patriotism, dutifulness, and dedication, stating that Vajpayee dedicated his life to taking the country back to its ultimate glory. Under Vajpayee’s leadership, a new era of development and good governance was initiated, making the world aware of India’s potential and instilling a sense of national pride in the public. Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu also paid tributes, stating that Vajpayee was a visionary reformer who fast-tracked all-round development. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh paid tributes, stating that the former PM wrote a new chapter of development and good governance in the country.

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh compared Vajpayee’s time as an MP to the latest session of Parliament, where Opposition’s demands for a discussion on the India-China situation were not met. He mentioned that Vajpayee, as a first-term MP, co-signed a letter to Nehru requesting for Parliament to be convened earlier than scheduled to debate the Chinese invasion.

In addition to the national leaders, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also paid floral tributes to Vajpayee at his statue on the occasion of ‘Good Governance Day’. The tribute to Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his birth anniversary is a testament to his enduring legacy and the respect he commands across the political spectrum.
