Breaking: Actor Lee Sun-kyun’s Untimely Death Amid Drug Controversy at 48

South Korean actor Lee Sun-kyun, known for his role in the Oscar-winning film “Parasite,” has been embroiled in a drug controversy. Rumors began circulating that Lee had been investigated by the Incheon Police Agency for drug use. Lee’s agency, Hodu&U Entertainment, released a statement stating that Lee would comply with any further investigation regarding this case. The Incheon Police Agency reportedly investigated eight people, including a top film star, rookie actors, and employees of a nightclub, for multiple drug uses.

Within hours, rumors spread that the film star under investigation was Lee. The agency further stated that Lee had been receiving continuous threats from another person implicated in the same drug investigation case. In response to these threats, Lee filed a lawsuit and plans to take strong legal action against this person.

Lee Sun-kyun debuted in 2001 through an MBC sitcom and has played leading roles in many acclaimed films and shows, including the 2019 film “Parasite.” He is set to appear in two upcoming films and TV shows, including “Project Silence,” “The Land of Happiness,” “No Way Out,” and the second season of “Dr. Brain.”. However, the production company decided to remove Lee from the project “No Way Out” after the police said they may seek a warrant to take a sample of the actor’s hair for drug testing. On December 27, 2023, Lee died from an apparent suicide at the age of 48.
